Jennifer M. Villacorta, M.D.

Dr. Jennifer M. Villacorta currently serves as President of the Medical Staff and Medical Director at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. She also serves on the faculty of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) as an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and is a member of the Neuro Institute at UMMC.

Villacorta is double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. Before coming to Mississippi, she served as Medical Director for Outpatient Spinal Cord Injury Services at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM), Detroit Medical Center, and as an Assistant Professor of PM&R at Wayne State University.

Villacorta is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She completed her fellowship training in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at The Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) affiliated with the University of Texas Health Science Center and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Villacorta is an active member of the American Spinal Injury Association, the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has particular interest in pressure ulcer management and is certified in wound care management by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy.
